WHAT: Into Film is proud to present a free educational screening of Rafiki as part of the Spring Screenings: Changing Times programme. At a time of remarkable change around attitudes towards the environment, technology, politics, and identity, particularly for young people, this film will open up discussion around some of these themes, utilising the remarkable power of cinema to deepen learning as well as provoke conversation and debate. The screening will be preceded by a short compilation of archive film on the theme, special schools' edit provided by Yorkshire Film Archive and will be followed by a talk.
About the talk:
Grace Barber-Plentie is a freelance film programmer and writer, as well as a Marketing Coordinator for BFI Distribution. Her programming and writing are focused on queer black female representation in front of and behind the camera.
WHEN: Tuesday 31 March, 1pm - 3.10pm (the event will start promptly at 1.15pm)
WHERE: Barbican Cinema 2 and 3, Barbican Centre, Silk St, London EC2Y 8DS. Cafe will be open from 10am for public use. Changing Places toilet is available in the building. Barbican Cinema 2 & 3 are located on Beech Street, a short walk from the Barbican's Silk Street entrance. From Silk Street, you'll see a zebra crossing that will take you across the road to the venue.
Certificate: 12A - BBFC. Into Film recommends this film is engaging for ages 11+.
Language: English/Swahili with English subtitles
