Goofy but charming live-action musical comedy re-imagining of the spinach-guzzling sailor man. Robin Williams has the time of his life impersonating Popeye complete with unintelligible gabbling! and Shelley Duvall's willowy Olive Oyle is an uncannily faithful creation. The oddball performances and stylized sets plonk the action in a bizarre but beautifully crafted world that is somewhere between reality and a 1940s cartoon. An ambitious fantasy that director Robert Altman pulls off with aplomb.
Contains mild slapstick violence and some instances of mild and one of moderate bad language
