In 1920s India (when the country was under British rule), a local Muslim doctor and a young Englishwoman go on a trip to the Marabar Caves. What happens next, or what she claims has happened, changes the course of their lives. The final film from director David Lean, this is a beautiful adaptation of EM Forster's novel, which was scathing in its portrayal of colonial attitudes.
