Growing up in Morocco in the early 1980s, seven year old Mehdi is growing up without a dad. In fact, his father has been jailed as a political dissident, but the boy has been told that he has simply gone away to France. Living in a remote mountain town, Mehdi is surrounded by loners and eccentrics and as the film goes on, each of their strange stories becomes as big a part of the film as his. Adventurous and experimental, A Thousand Months is a challenging movie about an equally challenging life.
