Football films in the past have been notoriously League Two - Escape to Victory and When Saturday Comes, for example, demonstrating how excitement on the pitch can fail to translate to the screen. Goal! is different, and this is in no small part due to the full involvement of FIFA, which means that real teams and real players strut their stuff on screen to create believable action. This is the rags-to-riches tale of Santiago Munez, a poor Mexican illegal immigrant in LA who is spotted by a Newcastle United talent scout. Can he hack it?
This film has a couple of uses of moderate bad language.
