Synopsis

Before Daniel Craig's back-to-brutal-basics take on James Bond, the super spy in the tux was being played as more of a smoothie by Pierce Brosnan, and he's on good form here. A good friend of MI6 boss M, oil magnate Sir Robert King, is murdered and 007 is sent to protect his daughter Elektra from rogue KGB agent Renard (with a great Bond villain quirk of being unable to feel pain). Meanwhile all roads lead to a multi-million pound east-west oil pipeline that several interested parties some of them not very friendly to Western interests - have an eye on.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
