As singer and guitarist with the Beatles and later a solo performer, John Lennon became one of the most famous and controversial rock stars ever. But this film looks at him as a teenager in 1950s Liverpool, under the clashing influence of the aunt who looked after him and the mother who had given him up. Actor Aaron Johnson does an excellent job of evoking how sharp and funny Lennon could be in this stylish biopic.
