This unforgettable full-length claymation skillfully highlights the power of human connection to colour lives in a bleak-seeming world. Neglected by her alcoholic mother, eight-year-old Mary Daisy Dinkle from Melbourne is desperate for company. Picking a name at random from a directory, she becomes unlikely pen pals with Max Jeremy Horowitz - a depressed, obese forty-four-year-old who lives alone in New York and has Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism that can affect social interaction). A touching, intensely witty correspondence of twenty years ensues.
This film contains suicide references and infrequent drug use.

Stop-motion animation version of Roald Dahl's woodland tale that combines a beautiful old-fashioned aesthetic with Wes Anderson's trademark dialogue.
