Ralph Fiennes's award-winning directorial debut is a stunning treatment of Shakespeare’s play that fully exploits parallels between the original text and the modern day. Coriolanus is a warrior and defender of Rome who disdains the citizens he must risk his life for and respects the leader of his enemies. As a reward for his victories, he is encouraged to run for office and is confronted by a greater power than military might: political manoeuvring. Ralph Fiennes is in complete control both behind and in front of the camera, making this an accessible and riveting adaptation.
Hollywood epic about the Trojan war, loosely based on Homer's The Iliad.
