The year is 1979 and the US embassy in Tehran, the capital of Iran, has been stormed by terrorists with 56 Americans being held hostage. During the siege, six American nationals managed to escape and are hiding out in the home of a Canadian ambassador but with the walls closing in around them, the CIA and State Department must act quickly and come up with a plan to get their people out. They decide to bring in Tony Mendez, a specialist who proposes that they send in extraction agents to pose as a film crew scouting locations for a science fiction movie called Argo. Tense, surprisingly funny and still relevant to today's international conflicts, this award-winning film tells the true story of one of the most daring, and unconventional, rescue missions in history.
