Synopsis

This ground-breaking Welsh language film, directed by Endaf Emlyn, won several BAFTA awards, including the award for best cinematography and drama. The film follows a group of young people and their teachers as they visit Russia on a school trip. During their long journey, the teachers get separated from the pupils and the young people take advantage of the opportunity to broaden their horizons, experiment and push their own boundaries. Their journey to a new country becomes a symbol of the film's main theme - as the young people go on their own personal journeys and discover more about themselves and each other.

Enillodd y ffilm arloesol hon, sydd wedi'i chyfarwyddo gan Endaf Emlyn, sawl wobr yng ngwobrau'r BAFTA ym 1995, gan gynnwys y wobr am y sinematograffiaeth a'r ddrama orau. Mae'r ffilm yn dilyn antur criw o bobl ifanc wrth iddyn nhw fynd a'r daith ysgol gyda'u hathrawon i Rwsia. Yn ystod eu taith hir, mae'r myfyrwyr yn cael eu gwahanu wrth eu hathrawon ac felly mae'r bobl ifanc yn manteisio ar y cyfle i ehangu eu gorwelion, arbrofi a gwthio'u ffiniau. Mae'r daith i wlad newydd yn dod yn symbol o brif thema'r ffilm; wrth i'r bobl ifanc hefyd fynd ar eu taith eu hunain a dysgu mwy amdanyn nhw eu hunain a'u gilydd.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
