Best-known for science fiction creatures and dinosaurs, animator Ray Harryhausen developed his signature stop-motion techniques and style on the stories he was told as a child. Featuring the Mother Goose tales of Humpty Dumpty and Little Miss Moffat as well as his adaptations of the Brothers Grimm fairytales Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, King Midas and the Tortoise and the Hare, his charming and simple animations magically capture that fairytale spirit. Also including interviews with Harryhausen, excerpts of his animation tests and experiments and a revealing behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the Tortoise and the Hare, this is an exciting insight into the works of a pioneering animator.
