Synopsis

Shy would-be musician Jon is asked to fill in last minute for bizarre indie band "Soronprfbs" after their keyboardist flips out and can’t perform. He joins the band as they travel to Ireland to record an album in seclusion, led by frontman Frank, who never removes his giant papier-måché head. Jon posts clips on the internet of their rehearsals, building up their fanbase before they take to the road in the US to perform at the South by Southwest festival. Inspired by 1980s television persona Frank Sidebottom - whose band film co-writer Jon Ronson was in, this is a very dark and funny satire of music-world cliches.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
