Synopsis

The Gruffalo (2009, U cert, 27 mins)

Adapted from the best-selling book, this short animation centres on a crafty mouse (voiced by James Corden) protected from harm by his own vibrant imagination. Faced by peckish predators - a snake, an owl and a fox - the mouse distracts them all with tall tales of a terrifying beast on the loose. All is well until the seemingly fictitious ''Gruffalo'' (Robbie Coltrane) roars on to the scene.

The Gruffalo's Child (2011, U cert, 27 mins)

A brave young monster hunts for the legendary Big Bad Mouse in this charming and witty sequel. But though her dad’s warned her about going into the "deep, dark wood", she’s determined not to be frightened - even when tracks in the snow lead her to a trio of creatures she’s never seen before. To her surprise that the mouse she actually encounters is snack-sized, rather than scary!

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
