Synopsis

Family gatherings, especially in films, can be stressful occasions. Abi, Doug and their three children discover this on a particularly fraught trip to celebrate their Granddad’s birthday in Scotland. Terrified of alarming the eccentric old man and worsening his ill health, Abi and Doug have decided to keep a few secrets from the rest of the family, not least that they are about to get divorced. As the bickering ensues and tensions rise events take a dramatic turn that force the family to overcome their differences and work together. This warm film draws hilarious, natural performances from its young cast whilst sensitively handling issues that affect many families.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
