After many years working as a dolphin trainer on the TV series Flipper, Richard O’Barry’s growing understanding of the animals causes him to reject the marine entertainment industry and begin campaigning for dolphin welfare. This documentary follows Ric as he joins a group of eco-activists who use hidden cameras to expose the horrifying dolphin hunts that take place in an idyllic cove in Japan. On the annual hunt a few of the dolphins are captured to be sold to marine parks - but the rest are slaughtered to be consumed as mislabeled whale meat, despite the dangerously high concentration of mercury in their flesh.
Much-loved family classic in which a tearaway foster child forms a bond with a traumatised whale.
