In 2001, a group of investigative journalists at the Boston Globe newspaper were asked by their new editor to examine allegations of historic child abuse within the Catholic Church in their city. Over the course of a long, painstaking investigation, they discover a scandal that stretches back decades involving institutions at the highest level of the city’s religious, legal and political establishments. Rigorous and engrossing, but never sensationalised, this grown-up drama deals with serious, complex issues in a mature fashion. It presents the journalists involved as noble but fallible humans, rather than heroes and never forgets that the true story lies in the accounts of the scandal’s many victims.
A moving real-life drama about an elderly woman who is helped by a young journalist to find her son, who she was forced to give up as a teenager.
