In this musical documentary, children attending a school in Dharavi, the biggest slum in Asia, sing of their hopes and dreams. Giving the perspectives of a variety of children who attend the school, from a budding footballer who practices her ball skills along the road where she lives, settling to sleep on the pavement at night, to the teenager working hard to keep her brother in school after a family tragedy. As each child tells their story, they reveal the impact that school has – with their hardworking teachers keep a watchful eye over the children’s wellbeing, and preparing them for future success. Despite the serious issues it portrays, this film captures the aspirations of the young people to overcome their difficult circumstances, and is a portrait of school as a community where everybody is working hard to support one another.
