Filmed over one year across 23 countries, Chinese artist Ai Weiwei follows individuals and families as they seek refuge and safety in other countries from famine, war and climate change. From dangerous ocean crossings, guarded borders and refugee camps, he captures people’s stories and experiences of hardship and endurance while witnessing the courage, tolerance and spirit they hold to keep them going. This is a thought-provoking visual document of large scale human migration, a global issue affecting tens of millions that has not been seen on the same volume since the displacement of people during World War II.
