Somme Tales is a stop-motion animation film created by a group of young people aged 16-19 and filmmaker Nigel Kellaway in response to original archival documents held at The National Archives – the official archive of the UK government. Commemorations of the Battle of the Somme often materialise as books or documentaries, but using the archives as inspiration, these young filmmakers posed provocative and overarching questions on the worth of war and human sacrifice by creating beautiful animations. These were knitted together into an inspiring and moving stop-motion animation film. This title is also available to view on our online Vimeo channel, please contact info@intofilm.org for further information.
