Synopsis

Known as “The Queen of the Midlands”, Nottingham is a city with a rich cultural and industrial history. The market square – the largest outside of London – saw many civic celebrations, whereas industry and transport saw rapid change. Archive footage of this development has been edited together in this compilation, recording life on the shop floor, trade on the River Trent and featuring a number of television reports from the regional news program, including the opening of the Nottingham Playhouse. This DVD is split into two discs. Disc B contains the following sections: Textiles and the Lace; Raleigh, Post War; Reshaping the City; Champions and Heroes.
