Queen and Slim meet on a dating app but are unaware of the awful turn their night will take. Harassed and threatened by a police officer for a minor traffic violation, they are forced to shoot him in self-defence and, aware of the systematic anti-Black racism in America, their only choice is to go on the run. When a video of the accident goes viral, sparking large media interest and support from activists fighting against police brutality, Queen and Slim flee from Ohio towards an escape route in Cuba. Meeting eccentric characters along the way while attempting to evade the law, the two form a close bond. This beautifully shot drama explores racial and class issues in modern America as well as celebrating African-American culture.
