Synopsis

This animated short tells the story of Capel Celyn, a small village in North Wales which housed a close community of families across multiple generations. It provides a timeline of events across 1955, 1956 and 1957 which began with Liverpool council sending academics to the area to scope out plans for a reservoir and submitting a bill allowing them to bypass planning permission. In November 1956, a protest against the bill was held, followed by a vote in Parliament in July 1957. Presented in Welsh with English subtitles, this sombre short film from a young Welsh filmmaker is a powerful reminder of a significant moment in the story of Wales.

Animeiddiad sy’n adrodd stori Capel Celyn, pentref yng Ngogledd Cymru a chartref cenedalethau o deuluoedd a chymuned glos. What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
