In the 19th century, the American frontier is a bustling landscape where nature and civilization meet. Fortuna ‘Lucky’ Prescott is a plucky young girl who is sent to stay with her father for the summer, years after her mother died during a circus act involving a horse. During the train ride over to the town of Miradero, she notices a Mustang horse riding next to the train and immediately bonds with it before arriving at her destination. Later, after meeting two young local riders Pru and Abigail, Lucky sets out to win over the trust of the horse, who she later finds out is named Spirit, and discovers that only she is able to keep Spirit under control. However, just as things seem to be going well, a group of bandits arrive and conspire to kidnap the horses and either sell them or work them. This historically-set animation is sure to delight young children with an love for animals whilst also highlighting family relationships and the importance of having support as you grow up.
