Synopsis

This engrossing documentary uses original recordings, archive footage, and talking-head interviews to look back at the life of Martin Luther King Jr., and his role within the Civil Rights Movement in the US. Taking in seminal events such as the Montgomery Bus Boycotts, the March on Washington, and the Selma Movement, as well as his assassination at the age of just 39, the documentary provides a remarkable insight into the man himself, the significance of his religious faith, and his extraordinary legacy. Together with analysis of what made King such a compelling leader, I Am MLK Jr. also highlights the ongoing systemic racism that continues to stain modern society.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
