Synopsis
British director Alfred Hitchcock began his career in the silent era and worked his way up the ladder to eventually become one of the most heralded filmmakers of the 1950s and 1960s. Known for his tension-filled thrillers and impeccable storytelling, he also courted controversy throughout his career, pushing the boundaries of censorship in films such as Psycho and being among the first filmmakers to explore elements of human psychology in the much-loved films Rear Window and Vertigo. This documentary covers Hitchcock’s professional career but also his personal life, including his marriage, the controversial relationships he had with his actors and his questionable techniques as a filmmaker. Packed with impressively reconstructed and intimate archive footage, this is the ultimate document of one of cinema’s creative icons.
