Synopsis

Kate Carter was a gifted storm-chaser, a scientist who studied weather phenomena and specialised in tornados and how to stop them from destroying rural areas. However, after an expedition goes awry, resulting in the loss of her friends and partner, she leaves the field to focus on lab work only. When an old colleague asks Kate to join his new scientific business venture, she is initially hesitant but after seeing the damage left behind by a recent tornado, agrees to provide her expertise in the hope she can save lives. Whilst studying some strange weather patterns in rural Oklahoma, Kate meets the cocky and brash social media star and fellow storm-chaser Tyler Owens, who represents everything she does not. However, with the news that multiple massive tornados are converging on a populated area of the state, the two differing personalities must bring their teams together and work out how to stop as much destruction as they can. A big-budget action movie with a lot of heart, Twisters also leans into the miracles of nature, physics and scientific theory.
