Returning to the freezing era of the ice age, this animated sequel re-introduces us to Manny the mammoth, Sid the sloth and Diego the sabre-toothed tiger who are now happily settled down in an isolated valley where all seems well. But the three friends soon realise their new paradise is in danger of being flooded - the ice wall surrounding the valley is melting fast and it's the only thing between them and a massive body of water that will flood their newfound home. With Manny worried he may be the last mammoth alive and Diego deathly afraid of water, it falls on Sid to step up and lead the group to safety. Dealing with modern fears of climate change and extinction, The Meltdown is, nevertheless, a family-friendly addition to the Ice Age franchise.
