Synopsis

It’s the 18th century where pirates roam the seven seas. As a child, Elizabeth Swann – the daughter of a Governor – is sure she spots a pirate ship after helping to rescue a boy in the water who wears a strange medallion. Eight years later, the boy – Will Turner – has grown up to be a blacksmith who has feelings for Elizabeth, while she is proposed to by the stuffy Commodore. Before she can give her answer, the port is descended upon by pirates, first in the form of the famed trickster Captain Jack Sparrow, soon followed by the infamous Black Pearl and its crew. The ship’s captain, Barbossa, is set on finding the medallion as it is the final one of 882 Aztec gold pieces which were stolen that placed a curse on the ship’s crew. However with the Royal Navy on their tails and the unpredictability of Jack Sparrow to consider, lifting the curse will not be easy. Based on Walt Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ is the first in a swashbuckling franchise of adventure, treachery, and hijinks.
