Synopsis

This spooky film is set in a refuge for children whose parents are hoping to save them from the fighting during the Spanish Civil War. Carlos has just arrived and been given the bed of a missing child, who may or may not have something to do with the bomb in the courtyard and the mysterious things happening around the place. Made by acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro, The Devil's Backbone is an atmospheric mix of a ghost story told from a child's point of view and an unconventional slice of history.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
