Forest Whiitaker gives an Oscar-winning performance as Idi Amin, the Ugandan liberator turned brutal dictator, who slaughtered his own citizens and political opponents during the 1970s. Seen through the eyes of the fictional Nicholas Garrigan, a young idealistic doctor from Scotland, what starts off as an assignment of a lifetime soon descends into the stuff of nightmares. This is a riveting but frightening story of power gone mad, opening up questions about politics and corruption which remain relevant today.
Contains strong violence, gruesome images, sex and language.
