Synopsis

This is one of those films that had to be based on a true story - because otherwise you just wouldn't believe it. Frank Abagnale Jr was still a teenager when he successfully started convincing people that he was an airline pilot, then a lawyer, and then a doctor. As Frank lived it up on forged cheques, the FBI spent years chasing him around the world - but they always seemed to be stuck one step behind their elusive prey. Director Steven Spielberg's snappy film captures both the dizzy excitement that Frank must have felt about getting away with it - and the loneliness of living behind a series of huge lies.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
