Synopsis
This biopic examines the tragically short life of celebrated writer Sylvia Plath, whose best-known work includes The Bell Jar and Ariel - focusing on her intense relationship with fellow writer Ted Hughes. They meet and fall in love at Cambridge University in the 1950s - but although they marry and have children, their life together is far from calm. There is jealousy, anger and infidelity, as well as great passion and creativity. Plath suffered from mental illness throughout her life, and committed suicide in 1963 when she was only 30 years old. The film portrays the life of a talented but troubled artist, and boasts fine performances.
