Synopsis

Barry B. Benson, a honey bee who has the ability to talk to humans, has recently graduated from college and is set to enter the hive’s honey-making workforce with his best friend, Adam. While he’s excited to do so at first, Barry soon becomes frustrated when he learns that whichever job he chooses will remain fixed forever. On his first pollen-gathering mission, Barry becomes lost and ends up on the balcony of a human florist named Vanessa. They strike up a friendship and spend more time together, with Barry breaking the sacred rule that bees aren’t to communicate with humans. But on one of their trips, Barry discovers that humans steal and eat the bees’ honey. As a result, Barry decides that the only thing to do is to sue the entire human race for their crimes. ‘Bee Movie’ is a playful animation which nonetheless highlights important issues around food production and the biological ecosystem.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
