As an independent-minded young woman trying to choose between three men, Bathsheba is a source of trouble in Victorian rural England. As this film is adapted from a novel by Thomas Hardy, chances are that Bathsheba's tale will not be a straightforwardly happy one - but it is told through some great acting and a vivid recreation of the time and the place. When the film was made, there was some controversy about the fact that swinging London icons Julie Christie and Terence Stamp were cast in this period piece.
This film has a couple of uses of mild bad language, very mild violence, and nudity
