Entertaining and refreshingly quirky Asian monster movie, in which toxic waste creates a giant mutant tadpole in South Korea's Han River. When the tentacled terror snatches the 13 year-old daughter of frazzled dad Gang-du Park, a rabble of traumatised citizens decide to hunt down the creature and rescue her. But things get messy when the US military wades in and announces that the mutant is carrying a deadly virus and must be destroyed - at any cost. The Host combines scares, laughs, and satire into a riveting, hugely original film.
1933 monster movie about a giant ape which remains an unparalleled horror-fantasy.
