Synopsis

John Brown, an incompetent security guard for a robotics firm, dreams of becoming a real cop. After the villainous Sanford Scolex breaks into the firm's lab to steal its secrets, John gives chase and, injured in a resulting car crash, is rebuilt as Inspector Gadget - half man, half machine and bristling with all manner of ingenious crime-fighting attachments. Soon he's tussling again with his nemesis Scolex - also known as the Claw. Darker than the cartoon on which it was based, Matthew Broderick plays the straight-ahead Gadget but you may decide that Rupert Everett is the real star as the dastardly Claw.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
