Synopsis

Frodo is a humble hobbit living a quiet life in Hobbiton with his uncle Bilbo, and friends Sam, Merry, and Pippin. When it is discovered that an ancient ring thought lost for centuries has been found, and that it has somehow ended up in Frodo’s possession, he is faced with the daunting task of setting off on an epic quest to destroy the ring in the fiery cracks of Mount Doom in order to rid Middle Earth of the evil power of Lord Sauron. Together with his hobbit friends, a wizard, two men, an elf and a dwarf, Frodo holds the future of Middle Earth in his hands in the first part of an epic trilogy based on JRR Tolkien’s novel.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
