For a few years after the Russian Revolution of 1917, the new "Soviet Union" produced some of the most adventurous films in movie history, as the directors tried to invent fresh ways to communicate, suitable for their brave new world. Man With A Movie Camera is one of the most important results of that movement - an attempt to make something that was pure cinema and had no connection with books or theatre. What that turned out to mean was moments of modern life cut together with shots of the movie itself being filmed, edited and watched by the audience, in what is still an incredible viewing experience today.
Landmark silent drama, shot in 1929, tracking the lives of various Berliners for 24 hours.
