Partly inspired by Shakespeare's play Henry IV Part 1, this is a complex and engrossing tragi-comedy about the friendship between two young street hustlers. The late River Phoenix plays Mike, a troubled gay man who wants to find the mother who abandoned him as a child. He's in love with Scott, a rebellious rich kid. The pair drift through the days together in a drug-fuelled haze, but really, they're both looking for love, and for some kind of meaning in their lives. Whether they will find it is the question at the heart of this absorbing and highly original film.
This film has a couple of uses of strong bad language and sex references.
