It is Los Angeles, 1938, and young pilot Cliff Secord and his mechanic buddy "Peevy" Peabody have just found a mysterious rocket pack, which they work out how to operate. Cliff uses the pack to become the Rocketeer, a noble superhero - but soon a gang of Nazis are on his trail, wanting it for their own evil purposes. The Rocketeer was intended to be a tribute to the pulp comics and movie serials of the 30s and 40s, and the film's innocent mix of clean-cut heroes, derring-do and sneering bad guys also brings to mind that most famous of boy's own homages, Indiana Jones.
This film has a couple of uses of mild bad language.
