Synopsis

This hugely likeable early film from Japan's master of anime Hayao Miyazaki is a different proposition to the likes of Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro, but is just as entertaining. This is a freewheeling caper movie that probably has more in common with the lighter side of James Bond than Miyazaki's later flights of the imagination. The plot follows the adventures of Lupin III, a rogueish master thief who arrives in the small European country of Cagliostro to investigate a batch of counterfeit money - but then finds himself having to rescue a beautiful young duchess from marriage to the evil Count of Cagliostro...
