Menelik Shabazz's 1981 film is a coming of age story about Pat - a young black woman who is searching for security and companionship in her life. It seems as if she's achieved this when she meets her boyfriend - but when he's then falsely arrested and beaten up by the police, the event becomes a turning point in both their lives. With an inspired performance from Cassie Macfarlane as Pat, the film shows her becoming more aware of the rapidly changing landscape in a just-as rapidly changing British society.
This film has a couple of uses of strong bad language.
