Despite what we're told by crime novels and movies, not every murder case always has a neat solution waiting to be found by a brilliant investigator. That's the uncomfortable idea that lies at the heart of Zodiac - a highly disturbing but superbly made film about a real life killer who struck terror into the American city of San Francisco during the late 1960s, and who taunted the police who were unable to identify him. Following a pair of journalists who become obsessed with the case, this is an excellent piece of film-making.
This film has several uses of strong bad language and contains strong violence.
