Director Françoise Truffaut's fascinating period drama is based on a real case documented in late 18th-century France. A wild, naked boy, who cannot walk upright or speak, is captured in a forest by hunters. He is taken to a home for the deaf and dumb run by Doctor Itard, who names the boy Victor, and tries to teach him the skills he needs to survive in the civilised world. But is that really the best thing for the boy?
Based on Mary Shelley's classic Gothic horror novel about a misunderstood monster hounded through Transylvania's foggy graveyards.
