Into Film Clubs
Find out everything you need to know about starting an Into Film Club.
As we continue to highlight content to mark Black History Month, this week we would like to draw your attention to Big City Stories, a fascinating compilation that provides a showcase of the various experiences of Black Londoners over the last 100 years, incorporating early silent films, newsreels, clips from feature films and television shows that put the spotlight on either the portrayal or concerns of Black Londoners, including films produced by Black directors.
Our Big City Stories film guides - one for Primary and one for Secondary - will help explore topics including history, politics, citizenship, film studies and media Studies, whilst discussing pertinent themes around community, poverty, British cinema and democracy, to name but a few.
A note to all educators - Into Film have made the decision to capitalise the B when making any reference to Black people and groups, as will be done with other ethnic group categorisations. This important mark of acknowledgment and respect has been embraced by several high-profile sites and style guides over the last few years and is now an official part of the Gov.UK Writing about Ethnicity Guidelines.
