Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds

Not too many children's animations also have an educationally historical slant to them but Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds takes inspiration from the famous historical novel The Three Musketeers and gives it a bit of a twist. This CGI animation sees a young pup named Dogtanian leave for Paris to follow his dreams of becoming a Muskehound, one of the protectors of the King. However, he soon finds himself embroiled in an adventure that touches upon politics and power in an accessible and exciting manner for younger audiences.

We have also been curating fresh film lists on all kinds of themes and subjects across the curriculum and this week take a look at some films that differ from our usual frame of reference alongside a very specific genre. Our Beyond Hollywood list travels to countries as far off as Australia, Iran and China, amongst others, to put a spotlight on cinema outside of the Hollywood system, allowing us to experience new and varying cultures from afar. Our Spies list, meanwhile, covers a huge variety of Spy movies from secret agent stories to political conspiracies for all ages.
