Into Film Clubs
Find out everything you need to know about starting an Into Film Club.
We are thrilled to reveal that Musicals is the final strand of the 2019 Into Film Festival, following our announcement of the first seven in June.
The strand complements the BFI's autumn blockbuster season and celebrates one of the most enduring and beloved genres in all of cinema. The strand has been curated with the help and guidance of Into Film's Youth Advisory Council, and the BFI's Film Audience Network programming groups. We have broken the genre down into eight sub-categories: contemporary; Broadway; fantasy and fairy tale; animated; family; star performers; the golden age; and non-Hollywood, to provide young audiences with a comprehensive historical overview of the musical in all its glorious diversity, right up to the present day.
We can't wait for students and teachers across the UK to join us in celebrating the joyful, emotional, shared experience of watching film musicals; with the biggest stars, the most iconic scenes and the best-loved song and dance numbers back on the big screen.
Musical of the moment, The Greatest Showman, was one of the most successful film of last year's festival, winning the 'Best of the Fest' award. We greatly encourage all students to write a review after each film they see at the festival this year as not only will reviews decide this year's winner but they can also be submitted to our annual Review Writing Competition.
The 2019 Into Film Festival will take place 6-22 November. Priority bookings go live on 4 September for those with an Into Film Club and general bookings go live on 5 September.
