Into Film Clubs
Find out everything you need to know about starting an Into Film Club.
We're thrilled to announce that BAFTA-winning Scottish actor Jack Lowden has become an Into Film Ambassador, joining the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Naomie Harris and fellow Scot Katie Leung in championing the work that Into Film does across the UK.
I hope to inspire and empower the next generation of writers, directors, producers, sound engineers or stunt coordinators with the knowledge that they too can help make Scotland's film industry a world leader.
Jack Lowden on becoming an Into Film Ambassador
Lowden's announcement was made at a special Into Film Festival screening of Mary Queen of Scots, in which he stars, held at Stirling Castle and with Lowden surprising attendees from Larbert High School and John Paul Academy by appearing in person. The two schools were rewarded for their active and passionate Into Film Clubs by being invited to attend this intimate screening, get a tour of the castle, and have the chance to meet and talk with Lowden after the film.
"We wanted to treat these amazing Into Film Club members to a really special cinema event", explained Kirsty Gallacher, Into Film's Programme Delivery Manager in Scotland. "I think meeting a star of Mary Queen of Scots in one of Scotland's most historic locations may just have done the trick!"
Jack Lowden is one of the brightest acting talents to emerge from Scotland in recent years, starring in films such as Dunkirk and Fighting with My Family, and winning a Scottish BAFTA for his performance in crime thriller Calibre.
Lowden said: "I'm honoured to become an ambassador for Into Film, which supports children and young people across Scotland and the UK to watch, make and learn from films.
Stirling Castle was where Mary Queen of Scots was crowned queen when she was just nine months old. I'm sure watching the film in the castle where her coronation took place helped today's Into Film Festival audience immerse themselves in the story.
It was a real pleasure to meet the young film enthusiasts today, and I'm looking forward to working with Into Film across Scotland this year and beyond."
We're thrilled that Jack has agreed to support our work and we know he'll be hugely inspirational to Scotland's budding filmmakers.
