Into Film Clubs
Find out everything you need to know about starting an Into Film Club.
Welsh actor Matthew Rhys, star of Patagonia and The Edge of Love, is the latest acting talent to agree to become an Into Film ambassador, joining the likes of Celyn Jones and Michael Sheen.
The announcement was made at a special screening of Patagonia at Cardiff's Chapter Arts Centre, organised by our selves in partnership with BAFTA Cymru, and held to celebrate 150 years of the Welsh colony in South America. Joined by his co-stars in the film Matthew Gravelle, Rhys Parry Jones and Nia Roberts, Matthew will take part in a Q&A session with sixth form students to talk about working on the film, and share tips on getting into the industry.
The event is the first in a series of celebratory screenings across Wales, supported by Film Hub Wales. Hannah Raybould, Director of BAFTA Cymru, had this to say about the upcoming screenings:
This is a fantastic opportunity for BAFTA Cymru, Into Film and the Patagonia 150 programme to celebrate the relationship between Wales and Argentina's Welsh colony - Y Wladfa - through the medium of film.
Hannah Raybould, Director of BAFTA Cymru
Further screenings of Patagonia will be held in Wales as part of BAFTA Cymru's year round programme of over 60 events, including screenings at Neuadd Buddug, Bala; Galeri Caernarfon, and Aberystwyth Arts centre. We're delighted that a whole new audience will get to see this fantastic example of Welsh cinema, and look forward to Matthew inspiring the next generation of Welsh filmmakers. Diolch yn fawr iawn Matthew! Here's what he had to say about partnering with us:
I wanted to support Into Film because to me, film is on a greater human level, it's educational and helps all kinds of people understand themselves and learn about the world around them. I also think it lends itself like no other medium to the education sector in the way it can inspire young people to learn in a modern and engaging way.
